Holy Comforter has purchased four modules of Speaking of Faith® for Small Groups™ and each module provides discussion materials for five or six sessions. Please contact Mother Libby+ if you would like copies of the study guides.
Sustainable Faith: God, the Environment and Human Responsibility
"Discuss your role as a steward of the planet and how to make sense of the current climate of challenging political and environmental issues. Inspire conversation and introspection about the choices we make about nourishing ourselves, both nutritionally and spiritually. Hear from experts working to meet needs on the frontlines of suffering in both Africa and New Orleans. Meet a host of inspirational people brave enough to challenge the establishment to ensure that both the planet and the people who inhabit it are protected."
Einstein's God: Science, Faith and the Life of Wonder
"Explore religion’s place in the hallways of science and how it impacts the mysteries of the universe that surround us all, from the unanswerable questions found in Hinduism to the beauty of complex geological systems and the universal language of mathematics. Challenge your heart and mind. Along the way on this scientific journey, gain fascinating insight into the mind of two of science’s greatest thinkers, Albert Einstein and Charles Darwin."
Spiritual Heroes: Women and Men on the Frontiers of Faith
"Discover the full spectrum of spiritual leaders with interviews ranging from popular, well-known figures to lesser-known religious influencers and role models, including Joan Chittister, Jimmy Carter, Karen Armstrong, Rumi and Thich Nhat Hanh. Examine your own faith in an honest way. Discuss shared periods of faith and doubt. Be challenged with new thoughts on integrating unexpected non-Christian and right-brain practices — like meditation, dance, prayer and poetry — into daily faith."
Living Islam: Beauty, Truth, Compassion
"Dive into the rich tradition and cultural fabric of Islam, including what it means to be Muslim in modern America. Hear Muslim women offer their perspective on their traditions and roles, examine the effect of 9/11 on the West’s view of Islam, and understand the Islamic holiday of Ramadan. Confront the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as you listen to a Palestinian and a Jew who have risen above personal tragedy to join forces in an effort to end hatred and war."
