Learning to Wait in Hope: An Advent Quiet Morning

Meditations and Quiet Time - On Zoom

Saturday, December 5, 2020
9:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Dr. Kathleen Henderson StaudtLed by Dr. Kathleen Henderson Staudt (Kathy)

Spend a Quiet Morning reflecting on the ways that we wait in hope. With the help of music, poetry, and Scripture we will explore ways that the Advent themes of exile, waiting, darkness, and longing touch our current hopes and fears, even as they open us to the larger Christian story of God’s abiding presence in our lives.

Dr. Kathleen Henderson Staudt (Kathy) has worked as a teacher, poet and spiritual director at a number of institutions in the Washington, DC area including Virginia Theological Seminary, Wesley Theological Seminary, and the University of Maryland. Over the years her courses have focused on writing, poetry, spirituality, and Christian Vocation, especially from the point of view of the laity. She offers frequent retreats and workshops in the DC metro area, including Virginia Seminary’s Lifetime Learning program and the School for Christian Faith and Leadership of the Diocese of Washington. She is the author of three books of poetry as well two scholarly books on the British artist and poet David Jones. Her blog is at kathleenstaudtpoet.com.
