Food4Thought (F4T)

The Holy Comforter Outreach Team is working to co-create God’s vision of a new world as we seek to “fill the hungry with good things.” We have been working on a new program to complement our Britepaths progam! Food4Thought is a Britepaths-sponsored monthly service that will provide 100 “power packs.” These are easy to fix, non-perishable foods that feed children over the weekend.

We are excited because:

  1. It will benefit children who are in need of extra food assistance at Marshall Road Elementary School, a neighborhood school with many Holy Comforter connections.
  2. It is a chance for our 5th and 6th graders to show leadership in serving our parish and community (led by Brynn Pacitti and Susan McGuire).
  3. It is a way for our whole parish to be involved! How, you ask?
  • Food Donations: Please see the list below for what parishioners and Sunday School children are requested to bring. Please donate by September 15!
  • Packing Parties: The program kicks off on September 22, then continues on the third Sunday of each month. During Formation Hour, all parishioners are welcome to join us in the narthex to assemble 100 Power Packs. Sunday School teachers will help their students to participate with their classes.
  • Financial Donations: If you’d like to make a donation toward the purchase of supplies, it will help to ensure we can fill all 100 Power Packs each month.

We have assigned various groups to bring the following items (100 each month). Please place them in our donation bin or bring them to Sunday School class.

  • Pre-K/Kindergarten: pudding cups and applesauce pouches (not cups)
  • Grades 1 & 2: Individual boxes of cereal, oatmeal packets
  • Grades 3 & 4: Single-serve Chef Boyardee, small cans of soup
  • Grades 5 & 6: 100% juice boxes, granola bars

Youth and parishioners can help by bringing:

  • Shelf-stable milk boxes
  • Single serve mac and cheese cups
  • Ramen noodle packets/cups
  • 2 gallon Ziploc bags

Thanks for your support, and please contact Amy Davison with any questions.
