Pennywise is operated by the Church of the Holy Comforter, Vienna, Virginia. All profits are distributed to Christian charities and all non-consignment items may be donated to these worthy causes.

Pennywise Consignment Hours:

  • Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - 10:00 a.m. to noon
  • Second Saturday each month - 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

February and August - Household items only (no clothing)

Policy For Handling Consignment Merchandise:

In leaving articles to be sold by Pennywise Thrift Shop, I agree to the following conditions:

  1. Pennywise Thrift Shop will receive 50% of the price of merchandise sold and the customer (consignor) 50%.
  2. Pennywise Thrift Shop will not be held responsible for loss from fire, theft, or other casualty in event of damage to articles left for sale.
  3. ONLY SEASONAL MERCHANDISE, NEWLY CLEANED OR LAUNDERED, IN STYLE AND IN GOOD CONDITION, WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR SALE ON CONSIGNMENT.  September through January – Fall and Winter clothes.  March through July – Spring and Summer clothes.
  4. Halloween items will be accepted starting October 1st and be pulled at the end of the consignment period or November 1st, whichever is earlier. Christmas items will be accepted starting November 15th and be pulled at the end of the consignment period or December 31st, whichever is earlier. 
  5. Articles must be worth a minimum of $4.
  6. Consignors may bring 1-15 articles once a week to place on consignment.  A maximum of 10 of those items may be clothing and any number may be household items.  Electrical appliances and various other items are not consignable (see posted list).  Pennywise will accept only 3 items of a kind, e.g. 3 men’s shirts, 3 woman’s pants, etc.
  7. Articles remain on consignment for 3 weeks.  Unsold items may be picked up by the owner by that time, without notification, or they become the property of Pennywise Thrift Shop.  Pennywise will not pull or hold merchandise for a customer.  CONSIGNOR MUST COME IN DURING REGULAR CONSIGNMENT HOURS TO EITHER CONSIGN NEW ITEMS OR RECLAIM ITEMS.
  8. If, on more careful inspection, articles are found unsuitable for consignment after the customer has left the shop, Pennywise Thrift Shop reserves the right to reject them and they automatically become the property of the shop.
  9. Pennywise Thrift Shop consignment fee is $8.00 per year.
  10. Payment for consignment items sold will be mailed to consignor at the beginning of the month after the 3-week consignment period has ended.  All Pennywise checks not cashed within 90 days of date on check will be void.
  11. Customers requesting information pertaining to their accounts must telephone or come to the Shop during regular consignment hours.
