J2A: Sunday mornings, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in Lower Rodman House
Journey to Adulthood (J2A) is a two-year program open to all 10th through 12th graders. It is designed to continue to nurture the Christian identity of our High School Students by engaging them in prayer and faithful action and reflection, and by helping to prepare them to participate fully in the adult faith community. Some of the goals of the program are:
- To celebrate the transition from adolescence into young adulthood, and to help foster relationships built upon mutual respect and accountability.
- To develop the ability to listen prayerfully and constructively to one’s self, to others, and to God.
- To give program participants opportunities to think proactively as a group, and to share in the expression and the actualization of new interests, ideas, and insights about their faith.
All students who are active in Holy Comforter’s J2A program will have the opportunity to participate in a biennial pilgrimage, which is a journey that is made to some sacred place as an act of religious devotion, penance, or thanksgiving. Participants in the trip are heavily involved in all aspects of planning, including site selection and fund raising. The first pilgrimage was to Rome, Italy in the Summer of 2011, and was open to all 10th through 12 graders.
