What to Expect
Worship
Worship at Holy Comforter centers on readings from Holy Scripture (using the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible), and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist (communion) alternating between Rite I and Rite II as found in the Book of Common Prayer. All baptized Christians are welcome at the Lord’s Table.
Holy Eucharist is regularly held on Sunday and Saturday. On the first Thursday of the month we hold a Eucharist with Healing Prayers. Additional seasonal worship services may be held on other days.
We also offer:
-
Choral Music or a Contemporary Ensemble
-
Evensong (periodically), and
-
Occasional, less formal services in the Taize tradition.
Our Rector, Father Rick Lord, is the priest-in-charge of our worship.
For Families with Young Children
We delight in the growing number of young families enjoying Holy Comforter, thanks in part to our daily preschool. We have a special Childrens Chapel during the first half hour of both our 8:00 and 10:30 am Sunday services, as well as a nursery for children under age three.
Please Note: If your child becomes restless during the service, please visit the Narthex (just outside the Sanctuary) which is wired for sound, and where you can listen to the service without disturbing others.
Childcare for infants and toddlers is available in the nursery on the lower level beginning at 7:45 am for those attending the 8:00 am Eucharist. Both nurseries are open from 9:00 am to 12 noon for the Christian Formation hour and the 10:30 am Eucharist. The lower level nursery is for infants and the upper level nursery is for crawlers and toddlers.
We gladly offer these services to those attending worship and Christian Formation. Please do not leave the premises while your children are in childcare. The director of childcare is Ms. Pam Hock.
